For the same reason, there is an increase in the number of related publications, unfortunatelly there is not a unique definition and a universally accepted classification system, both necessary to integrally evaluate these services. Analyzing different approaches allows for the classification of goods and services that ecosystems provide to human populations to be pondered from different views, considering their diversity, utility, processes and structure, according to the particular interest of decision makers. Also, knowing the different approaches will facilitate to move forward in the process of criteria unification supporting the output of concepts and a classification system with general acceptance.El presente trabajo revisa las propuestas más aceptadas sobre el concepto de servicios ecosistémicos y su clasificación, tema cuyo interés es creciente. Particularmente para el proceso de evaluación económica se ha visto un incremento en el número de publicaciones asociadas, pero aún no existe una definición y sistema de clasificación universalmente aceptados, que sean la base para la evaluación integral de estos servicios. El análisis de los diferentes enfoques permite que la clasificación de los bienes y servicios que los ecosistemas ofrecen a la población humana pueda efectuarse ponderando su diversidad, utilidad, procesos y estructura, de acuerdo al interés particular de los tomadores de decisión.
