| Sumario: | We review the main approaches to the concept and classification schemes for ecosystem services, a subject which is growing in interest, particularly for the economic evaluation process. For the same reason, there is an increase in the number of related publications, unfortunatelly there is not a unique definition and a universally accepted classification system, both necessary to integrally evaluate these services. Analyzing different approaches allows for the classification of goods and services that ecosystems provide to human populations to be pondered from different views, considering their diversity, utility, processes and structure, according to the particular interest of decision makers. Also, knowing the different approaches will facilitate to move forward in the process of criteria unification supporting the output of concepts and a classification system with general acceptance. |
