| Sumario: | Background: the COVD-19 pandemic imposed changes in the daily life affecting also the well-being, defined as the cognitive and affective evaluation of one’s life. The semantic networks were useful to study differences, as they represent mental models in graphs. Objective: To determine the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the well-being of inhabitants of the Metropolitan Zone of Mexico City. Method: equivalent samples of years 2018 and 2021 (total N = 342, men 37%, women 63%), 18 years and older (x̅ = 34.05 years, s.d. = 12.5 years), inhabitants of the Metropolitan Zone of Mexico City responded to a questionnaire which included a semantic network section (it included informed consent). Analysis reported central tendency measures for the graphs of 2018 and 2021. Results: well-being for the years 2018 and 2021 had differences within the organization and had statistically significant differences in betweenness-centrality, hub, clustering, and modularity indices. Well-being had more emotional contents within the higher degree nodes. The relationships (family and work) lessened their effect over well-being. Discussion and conclusions: during the pandemic, material resources, quality of the relationships, and the opportunities to prevent risks of contagion having the tranquility as a main guideline were salient for people to achieve health and ultimately, well-being. |
