Nevertheless, there are several attacks on the biometric system to steal and recover the user’s biometric trait. One of the most powerful attacks is extracting the fingerprint pattern when it is transmitted over communication lines between modules. In this paper, we present a novel fingerprint image encryption scheme based on hyperchaotic Rössler map to provide high security and secrecy in user’s biometric trait, avoid identity theft, and increase the robustness of the biometric system. A complete security analysis is presented to justify the secrecy of the biometric trait by using our proposed scheme at statistical level with 100% of NPCR, low correlation, and uniform histograms. Therefore, it can be used in secure biometric access control systems."Hindawi Publishing CorporationCESAR CRUZ HERNANDEZMiguel Angel Murillo EscobarROSA MARTHA LOPEZ GUTIERREZADRIAN ARELLANO DELGADO2016info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttp://cicese.repositorioinstitucional.mx/jspui/handle/1007/1766Mathematical Problems in Engineering, Vol. 2016, No. 2016, Págs. 1-15reponame:Repositorio Institucional CICESEinstname:Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenadainstacron:CICESEenginfo:eu-repo/semantics/altIdentifier/DOI/http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2016/2670494citation:Abundiz Pérez,F.,Cruz Hernández,C.,Murillo Escobar,M.A.,López Gutiérrez,R.M.,Arellano Delgado,A.2016.A Fingerprint Image Encryption Scheme Based on Hyperchaotic Rössler Map.Mathematical Problems in Engineering - Optoelectronics,2016(2016),1-15.doi:10.1155/2016/2670494info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0oai:cicese.repositorioinstitucional.mx:1007/17662024-08-28T03:49:53Z
