Sumario:The history of Mexico City has presented an evolution in the sacralization of its urban space through the construction of different popular monuments that have become, in a given time, as paradigms of sacralization of urban space. The present article tries to demonstrate this evolution and to conclude that the street altars are the current paradigm of sacralization of the urban space in Mexico City.
