| Sumario: | In recent decades, Canada's visibility in Mexico has been achieved thanks to the sum of public and private initiatives within independent and commercial, artistic and cultural circuits, as well as binational academic collaborations. This article is a panoramic view of Canada's cultural presence in Mexico and the conditions that helped or hindered the consolidation of this relationship. It discusses how Canadian cultural diplomacy has played a significant role in carrying out the activities of this agenda. It also analyzes the difficulties posed by the conflictive mediation of the United States and how, unlike the commercial interests that explain their presence in the cultural panorama of Canada and Mexico, these two countries have had to resort to agents such as universities, festivals, independent publishing houses and non-governmental collaborators to position themselves with their regional partners and on the international stage. |
