Sumario:This article shows an exploratory research carried out in tattoo studios in four cities in Ecuador. The purpose has been to know the characteristics of the body art centers, their professionals, the conditions in which their work is framed and the social groups to which the clients or consumers of this service belong. The analysis presents qualitative results, which were collected through semi-structured interviews in twelve (12) tattoo centers distributed proportionally in Quito, Latacunga, Ambato and Riobamba. In the results, criteria were obtained on professional training, valuation and costs of their work, characteristics of their clients and perception of the groups towards the profession.
