| Resumo: | Over time the concept and paradigm of International Development Cooperation (IDC) has evolved significantly and so have the actors involved. In recent years, especially the private sector has been increasingly incorporated into international development policy, and actors such as the EU increasingly recognise the key role of the private sector in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The objective of this paper is to review the concept of the IDC and the incorporation of the private sector into the IDC. First, a literature review on the two concepts mentioned above is carried out, and then the case of the EU's efforts to incorporate the private sector is analysed. All this helps to identify the different forms of private sector involvement in the CID, to review the EU strategy in that context and to show the results obtained. |
