Descripción
Sumario:This article analyzes the ways in which masculinity is built in a multinational supermarket company in the city of Rosario, Argentina. This article is part of our Ph.D. Dissertation about the labor experiences of young supermarket workers. The methodology used consisted of an anthropological approach, which main tools were in-depth interviews and participant observation. We will analyze the experiences of the workers around three aspects in particular: the meanings about the physical effort in the replacement of products; the importance of the sectors of perishable food as “male” and “adult” sectors and the processes of stigmatization of the feminine manifested in conceptions about the work of the cashiers.
