Sumario:The guided bone regeneration process (GBR) has demonstrated to be an successful technique for the promotion of healing of bone defects around dental implants and to augment the height and the width of atrophic alveolar ridges prior to implant placement. In situations where the dimensions of the alveolar bone are less or equal to those of the implant, implant installation may not be possible at all or may result in parts of the implant being uncovered by bone, soft tissue irritation and diminish of the bone-implant contact. For the implant to achieve good prognosis it has been suggested that at least 1 mm of supporting bone should be present at the lingual/palatal and facial aspects. In this article we describe the technique of implant installation along with guided bone regeneration procedure in postextraction sites.
