Latin American countries use new technologies to different extents, but do not produce them. The result is negative fallout for jobs and employment, a burgeoning informal sector, and higher job income in advanced countries and in the emerging Asian economies that do make these technologies.La revolución digital trastoca el comportamiento de las empresas, su entorno, los patrones de consumo, al tiempo que modifica la estructura de empleos y salarios en los sectores en los que opera. En sí misma, significa una importante transformación que no puede interrumpirse, por lo que se debe tratar de aprender a manejarla en lugar de negarla o frenarla. Los países latinoamericanos usan las nuevas tecnologías en diversos grados, pero no las producen.
