Alternative deduction of Lifson-Jackson theorem for the study of one-dimensional effective difussion in periodic channels

Descripción
Sumario:This work is devoted to the study of unbiased diffusion of point-like Brownian particles trough long, narrow, periodic channels. An alternative deduction of the Lifson-Jackson formula is presented, by means of the introduction of an explicit form of the position-dependent effective diffusion coefficient, the alternate procedure saves a significant amount of mathematics, and gives a better glimpse of the principles involved in such a derivation. Finally, it is discussed briefly the application of the formula to a study previously published (J. Chem. Phys. 129, 046101, 2008), on the unbiased diffusion of point-like Brownian particles trough a channel formed by overlapped spheres.
