| Sumario: | During the process through which society is going -characterized by unequal levels of development both between regions and countries and within them- it is essential to consider the environmental dimension in drafting a paradigm for sustainable development. This focus requires indicators that include the costs of utilizing environmental assets. A relevant contribution to registering these costs is due to the systems of measurement, in particular to the national accounts. This article deals with a central aspect of the same -the advances obtained and challenges that the accounting treatment must tackle at the highest aggregate level. Part of the study considers the experience of Mexico and data published by the INEGI in this area. |
