Sumario:Banking crises in the United States have proved extremely contagious for developing countries, particularly Latin America. It is important to note how internal problems in the United States, due to speculation, poor management or the stage at which they are in the financial and economic cycle have repercussions on other countries. These effects which, at one time, only concerned assets have gradually shifted toward the financial sector. This study provides a greater understanding of the causes and development of banking crises in Mexico and other Latina American countries.
