Descripción
Sumario:Groundwater is important in the economic context of the state of Puebla, where the largest proportion of the study area is located, since it determines the feasibility of increasing its economic development. 80% of groundwater is used in agriculture. The largest proportion of water available in the state is in the Eastern Basin. Extraction in the basin has increased in recent years by incorporating new areas into irrigated agriculture. Agriculture, in the basin, is conditioned by the characteristics and physical properties of the soil and the quality of the water. In high permeability soils, of coarse texture, sprinkler irrigation is used and in high impermeability soils, fine texture, flood irrigation, using melgas and furrows.
