Descripción
Sumario:The paradox of “Having less giving more” consists of the generosity of people with low economic resources. However, it has only been explored with upper-middle class students and with dictator games with points. In the present study, we conducted the dictator game with money with 24 people of diverse occupations and high and low socioeconomic levels (SEL). The purpose was to observe if the paradox was maintained and the reasons that the participants gave to their behavior. The results show that people of high SEL gave significantly more on average (M = 18.2, SD = 4.06); however, people of low SEL in general tended to give half of their money (M = 10, SD = 4.08) appealing to equity reasons. Although the paradox of “Having less giving more” was not observed, the processes that lead people of different economic resources to share are discussed.
