| Sumario: | In a preventive approach, one of the main factors that have been linked to a Body Mass Index (BMI) healthy and unhealthy in the early stages of life, they are mothers feeding practices. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of a psychoeducational intervention on parenting practices and feeding behavior of women with school-age children in a elementary public school in Pachuca, Hidalgo. Participating 50 mother-child dyads, those who were randomly assigned to one of two conditions: psychoeducational program (n = dyads 25) and waiting list control group (n = 25 dyads). Mothers completed the following tests: Child Feeding Questionnaire, (CFQ), Brief questionnaire on Parental Practices (version for mothers), and Child Eating Behaviour Questionnaire (CEBQ). The students answered the following instrument: Brief Questionnaire of Parental Practices (version for children). These instruments were answered before, after and three months of completed the intervention. The psychoeducational program consisted of 10 sessions (one per week) one-hour (each). The preliminary results provide evidence for the use of prevention programs with mothers and children, promoting healthy dietary behaviors at home. Significant changes in parental feeding practices and eating behaviors were found in the post evaluation however some of these changes did not remain after the follow up 3 months, so want to reinforce the intervention program and continue to make an analysis of these results. |
