Descripción
Sumario:Obesity is a public health problem in Mexico, due to high prevalence in the population, its current treatments range from nutritional, pharmacological to surgical. Despite the possibilities that exist for the treatment of this disease, most people with this condition do not obtain satisfactory results. Studies have linked bioactive compounds as an alternative in the prevention of diseases, including obesity, therefore the use of a bioactive compound that provides benefits would have a great impact on the population. Among these compounds are saponins which are secondary metabolites of plants and multiple benefits have been attributed in the treatment of obesity, such as participation in appetite-regulating hormones, inhibition of lipid enzymes, to name a few, so scientific evidence suggests their use as adjuvants in the obesity treatment.
