Sumario:Epidemiological investigations in malocclusions show different results around the world. Objective: Determine the frequency of malocclusions of the Especialidad de Ortodoncia de la Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit. Material and methods: The universe of study was 912 cases pre orthodontic treatment of the Especialidad de Ortodoncia de la Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit from 2002 to 2010. The sample size was 505 study models that met the criteria for inclusion and exclusion. Results: the malocclusion of class I arose in the 47.3%, class II at 44.1% and class III in 8.3%. In women the 47.1% of class I, class II the 46.8% and 5.9% of class III. In men the frequency of class I was 47.5%, class II the 40.1% and class III the 12.4%. Conclusions: Malocclusion that presented more frequently was the class I followed by class II and class III lower percentage. In men, the frequency of class III was greater than in women and in contrast in women of class II presented in most often.
