Descripción
Sumario:In the present article, the geocultural region of Sierra Gorda, located in the state of Hidalgo, will be examined with the aim of analyzing sociodemographic and economic factors to understand the drivers of its economic growth, providing foundational information for strategic decision-making and the promotion of sustainable economic development in the study area. The analysis is based on a methodology that includes the calculation of the coefficient of specialization and location, using the Gross Census Value Added (GVA) as an approximation of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), unemployment rate, and shift-and-share analysis, with the Employed Population (EP) as a variable; obtained from the economic censuses of 2014 and 2019. The results show that the sectors with the highest growth and participation in the region are mining, manufacturing industries, retail trade, temporary accommodation and food and beverage preparation services, and health and social assistance services. This article can serve as a foundation for future research and projects aimed at promoting prosperity and well-being in the Sierra Gorda region.
