| Resumo: | This paper presents a qualitative case study with nine youth who live in Juarez City, Chihuahua State, Mexico. They were asked write an autobiographical narrative and were applied a semi-structured interview to identify vulnerability and resilience factors in their way of life. All of them experienced previously some kind of violent event directly or indirectly. They expresed perceptions of high social vulnerability, fearless and uncertainty, as well as the conviction that violence has a significant impact on their life and in their identities, diminishing their welfare and opportunities. However, in most cases, they showed resilient factors, linked mainly with their own personal strengths, with family support and peers or teacher networks. No perception of resilient support in the broader community was found, because they believe that the government, institutions and authorities are corrupt and neglectful in relation to the welfare, safety and rights of mexican youth. |
