Sumario:The organisation of pedagogy and the curriculum of the contemporaryschool in Mexico were seen to be the main instruments toencourage the intellectual, moral and physical development of thestudent population. Hence, athletics, military exercises, manualwork, personal hygiene and educational outings were part of thecurriculum. Educational outings was one of the pedagogic innovationswhich was received with great enthusiasm as it was seen asbeing an extra-curricular activity free from the discipline of theclassroom. The aim of the present article is to discuss the trainingof students outside the classroom through an examination of schooltrips and outings. Such activities allowed students to learn through personal experience about different aspects of the country amongstwhich were scientific progress through visits to factories, farms,workshops, printing works, schools, the countryside etc.
