Our aims in the preparation for this activity were to familiarize ourselves -as teachers- with the broad-band network system, to find out how appropriate this system could be for a foreign language domain and to see to what extent this system could help improve communication in English and French among our students.La experiencia pedagógica que se describe en este artículo es la aplicación práctica del desarrollo de una infraestructura de red multimedia con una arquitectura que interconecta tres centros europeos a través de redes en banda ancha. Este entorno ha permitido que grupos bilingües de alumnos de la Universidad de Cambridge, del Instituto Nacional de Telecomunicaciones de París y de La Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación de Madrid realicen tareas diseñadas para el aprendizaje de inglés, francés y español a través de trabajo cooperativo, utilizando vídeo y audioconferencia, correo electrónico y recursos de audio y vídeo de calidad. El objetivo de este trabajo es describir esta experiencia y sus resultados, así como verificar hasta qué punto el uso de un sistema multimedia combinado con el enfoque basado en tareas es apropiado para el aprendizaje de lenguas y de qué modo puede ayudar a mejorar la comunicación en inglés entre nuestros estudiantes.Universidad de Alcalá.
