Therefore, in this study, an artificial insemination protocol at natural estrus in organic Churra sheep was performed. In the protocol design phase, 125 ewes were exocervically inseminated, and their fertility was assessed based on the number of inseminations, physiological state, body condition, estrus detection–insemination interval and vaginal fluids in cervix. That protocol was repeated in six consecutive years. In all ewes, fertilities based on the timing of insemination after estrus detection were very high. Lactating ewes produced better results than did dry ewes, which was probably because of the better feeding of the former. In addition, double insemination increased the fertility of ewes, whose estrus was detected within 16 h of onset. Body condition and amount of vaginal fluid were correlated with fertility. In conclusion, exocervical inseminations at natural estrus can produce acceptable fertility and prolificity in Churra ewes, avoiding physiological problems derived from the use of hormonal treatments.[ES] Los tratamientos hormonales utilizados para sincronizar el estro en la inseminación artificial de ovejas pueden causar diversos problemas fisiológicos que afectan negativamente la fertilidad y la salud animal. Sin embargo, los protocolos alternativos basados ​​en la detección del estro natural ofrecen una opción más sostenible para lograr resultados de fertilidad satisfactorios. Por lo tanto, en este estudio se implementó un protocolo de inseminación artificial durante el estro natural en ovejas Churra orgánicas . En la fase de diseño del protocolo, se inseminaron exocervicalmente 125 ovejas y se evaluó su fertilidad en función del número de inseminaciones, el estado fisiológico, la condición corporal, el intervalo entre la detección del estro y la inseminación, y la cantidad de fluido vaginal en el cérvix. Este protocolo se repitió durante seis años consecutivos. En todas las ovejas, la fertilidad, basada en el momento de la inseminación tras la detección del estro, fue muy alta. Las ovejas lactantes obtuvieron mejores resultados que las secas, probablemente debido a una mejor alimentación. Además, la doble inseminación incrementó la fertilidad de las ovejas cuyo estro se detectó dentro de las 16 horas posteriores a su inicio. La condición corporal y la cantidad de fluido vaginal se correlacionaron con la fertilidad.
