| Sumario: | The research project in which this article is inscribed, "Recovery of pioneering practices of the action art of the Spanish historical avant-garde and its contribution to the history of European performance", identifies proposals, gestures and actions that more than a century ago anticipated in the Spanish context the artistic phenomenon called action art or performance. The present reflection recovers two passages from La Busca of Pío Baroja in order to analyze its aesthetic value in terms of two characteristic features of the action art; The appropriation of the body as a tool and artistic material, and the defense of the critical and subversive value of urban action. It is a reflection exercise that pierces transversally the discussion about genres and periodization in art, social criticism and aesthetics. |
