The study reveals, firstly, the main constraints posed by the World Wide Web to the public dissemination of architects’ production and, secondly, the two strategies that would rule the online communication of architecture ever since. On the one hand, corporate offices like SOM or Foster and Partners understood the new medium as a tool that would facilitate the dissemination of the office’s identity. To harvest this potential, their work had to be published online in a succinct, interactive, and stable fashion by means of photographs and renderings. On the other hand, emergent offices such as MVRDV and Snøhetta decided to use the new medium to push the boundaries of their work and to test new techniques of representation and graphic expression.[ES] Este artículo contrasta algunos de los primeros sitios web lanzados por oficinas de arquitectura en la segunda mitad de la década de 1990. Su análisis revela no solo los condicionantes que planteó la World Wide Web a la exposición pública de la obra de arquitectura sino las dos estrategias que caracterizaron las primeras translaciones de la misma al territorio web, así como los tipos de representación gráfica adecuados para ello. De un lado, oficinas corporativas como SOM o Foster + Partners definieron el nuevo medio como una herramienta complementaria destinada a facilitar la difusión de su identidad. Para ello, la obra debía presentarse de forma escueta, consistente e invariable a través del uso predominante de fotografías e infografías.
