Descripción
Sumario:This article presents the edition and study of an anonymous Latin index on simple medical treatments preserved in the Folio 602 (563) in a 14th century manuscript, the Pal.lat.1094 in the Vatican Apostolic Library. This index is of great relevance because it is the only written testimony that includes an alphabetical list of the simple remedies from the twelfth century translation of Galens De simplicium medicamentorum facultatibus, Book VI by Gerard of Cremona. On the one hand, this work will bring this unpublished text to light whilst, on the other, it will analyse its botanical lexicon, mostly consisting of Arabisms and Hellenisms. Thus, we will be able to improve the critical edition and study of book VI of the treatise on simple treatments, since this index is thought to be very close to what must have been Gerards original text, now lost.
