Sumario:[EN] This article is an analysis of how political and economic networks were related at the time of the consolidation of the Spanish Liberal State under Queen Elizabeth II (Isabel II). Successful business dealings needed connections in the Government and Queen’s court; this community of interests led to the origins and foundation of the Moderate Party (Partido Moderado) during the so-called «década moderada» (1844-1854). In their turn, the main leaders of the Party, encouraged by the strength and unity of their political action, developed the necessary confidence to act as a business organization and amass wealth, often unlawfully
