Descripción
Sumario:This thesis focuses on frequency shifting of light, for applications in frequency multiplexed quantum networks and repeaters. In such networks photons at different frequencies generated in different part of the network need to interfere to perform entanglement swapping. One way to achieve this goal is to shifting the frequencies of the photons before the swapping stage to make them indistinguishable. We show a serrodyne modulation based approach for frequency shifting of light, measure its efficiency, with values over 80% for frequency shifts up to 200 MHz and at least 50% for frequency shifts up to 360 MHz. We repeat the measurements with 1μs pulses, mimicking the shape of single photons, which result in similar values for the efficiencies.
