Diastereoselective Synthesis of Protected 4-epi-Vancosamine from (S)-N-Boc-N,O-isopropylidene-alfa-methylserinal
An efficient diastereoselective synthesis of methyl N,O-dibenzoyl-L-4-epi-vancosamine is described. The key step involves Sharpless asymmetric dihydroxylation of a Z olefin derived from (S)-N-Boc-N,O-isopropylidene-α-methylserinal. © 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
