Descripción
Sumario:The industrial facilities in the Middle Ages had among their main protagonists the fulling mills within the fundamental sector of textile manufacturing. In the kingdom of Aragon there was still no specific study on this type of mills since they began to spread in Europe from the 13th century until reaching the Modern Age. This article covers this gap with new documentation that extends to more than sixty the number of draper mills located in thirty Aragonese municipalities. Some unpublished inventories allow us to know what was inside these buildings. The comparison with the 125 fulling mills that have also been identified in Aragon in the mid-19th century highlights the strength that rural industry had in medieval times far from urban centers.
