Emil Hübner deduced that the book should be a Spanish fake by Thomas Tamayo Vargas or Jerónimo Román de la Higuera. The article reviews these attributions, the life and work of Marcus, and concludes that Mientras, schediasmata antiqua was a mystification of Marcus himself, caused by a mental illness suffered since young and led to his death in 1843. |
