For the elaboration of this research, the phases of the comparative method developed by Caballero et al. (2016), where it has been possible to observe the increase in residential care measures in Spain over the years, the existence of significant differences between Autonomous Communities and the low visibility of this issue.Child protection must be guaranteed (Fernández Del Valle et al.,2009; Llosada-Gistau, et al., 2019) and deepen and investigate the functioning and shortcomings of the Spanish residential care system (Fernández et al., 2018), De la Herrán et al., 2008) to improve itEn el presente artículo se realiza un análisis comparado intranacional sobre los datos existentes en relación con las medidas de acogimiento residencial de menores en España. Para ello, se ha llevado a cabo un análisis y estudio comparado de la situación española general y cuatro comunidades autónomas seleccionadas de acuerdo con el criterio de que el cálculo de la suma total de menores que forman parte del sistema de protección en España en una medida de acogimiento residencial representa en esas cuatro comunidades más del total de menores españoles que se encuentran en acogimiento residencial. La finalidad de esta investigación es conocer y analizar los datos aportados en los boletines de datos estadísticos de medidas de protección a la infancia en España con el límite temporal de 2015-2020, fecha de la última publicación de los boletines. Para la elaboración de esta investigación se han seguido las fases del método comparado desarrolladas por Caballero et al. (2016), donde se ha podido observar el incremento de las medidas de acogimiento residencial en España con el paso de los años, la existencia de diferencias significativas entre Comunidades autónomas y la poca visibilización de esta cuestión.
