Descrição
Resumo:The paper analyses the relation between the mobility system of the metropolis of Madrid and the degree of urban exclusion its inhabitants experience. The research analyzes both variables and their interdependence in an urban context from several perspectives, it starts by approaching the problem from a theoretical point of view, and it also studies the historical evolution of urban planning in the 20th century. From this theoretical and historical analysis a more empirical approach is applied to analyze the current situation in Madrid. Last, statistical indicators are designed to measure the relation between mobility and urban exclusion based on the previous research by different authors who have tried to measure this phenomenon in urban and rural settings. The statistical analysis is applied to the most populated cities of Madrid¿s region. The main conclusion of the research work is that the Community of Madrid does not present a strong statistical correlation between the levels of social exclusion of the population and territorial planning in terms of mobility.
