| Sumario: | [EN] In spite of the few documents available, it is possible to confirm the existence of per-sonal and economic relations between Jewish communities and isolated individuals living in the Miño valley and the Portuguese Jewish communities living in the region north of the River Douro. Apart from the well-documented relationships, sciences such as onomastics and anthroponymy can be used to confirm the presence of Jews or families of Galician origin living in Portuguese communities, since they bore a “galego” (Galician) surname. According the Inquisitorial Records, when the Jews were expelled from Portugal in 1496, most of them were received in the region of Galicia in general and the Miño valley in particular. [PT] Apesar da escassa documentação conservada, pode-se afirmar a existência quer de comunidades judias, quer de indivíduos isolados vivendo no vale do Minho que mantiveram relações pessoais e económicas com comunidades judias portuguesas situadas ao norte do Douro. Além das relações explicitamente documentadas, ciências como a onomástica ou a antroponímia servem de instrumento para afirmar a presença de judeus ou de famílias de origem galega nas comunidades portuguesas, já que este últimos levam o apelido "galego". Quando em 1496 os judeus são expul-sos do reino de Portugal, a Galiza, em geral, e o Vale do Minho, em particular, convertem-se num centro de acolhimento a numerosos judeus portugueses, como documentam os arquivos inquisitoriais. |
