Sumario:Background: the rise of noncommunicable diseases is associated, among other things, with changes in eating patterns and the influence of eating environments. Objective: the aim of the study was to evaluate access to a healthy food supply in small grocery retailers in the area sorrounding Àrea Bàsica de Salut 4 Riu Nord Riu Sud of Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelona), assess the possible relationship with the configuration of dietary patterns and the health status of the population and geolocate the evaluated groceries. Methods: descriptive study on the assessment of the food environment of a part of the population of Santa Coloma de Gramenet through the measure of the area for food sale and the assessment of the food availability depending on the score assigned to the foods with the questionnarie designed with Google Forms®. Descriptive statistics, confidence intervals (95% CI), ANOVA variance test and Kappa test were calculated with SPSS. The results were geolocated with ArcGIS® and the health status of the population was described. Results: with both methodologies, the population of the study area has access to a mostly healthy food supply (average area 63,20% and average score 72,20) The small grocery retailers use marketing techniques that promote unhealthy food like industrial bakery, cold cuts and refined cereals. The most prevalent chronic diseases were the cardiovascular ones. Conclusions: small grocery retailers in the study area generally have a healthy food supply that varies on the type of shops. The most prevalent diseases are those that fit the term cardiodiabesity.
