Sumario:This work analyzes the influence and repercussions that the scholastic theological doctrine of Saint Thomas Aquinas had in the categorization of sins of speech in the works of Castilian and Catalan moralist authors of the 16th-18th centuries, his influence on daily pastoral practice of clerical strategy of eradication evil speak among many Christians, and the incidence on civil and canonical procedural law in the repression of the crime of insult. The second part, deals with the philosophical and moral contribution exercised by the teachings of the Italian saint and other writers adhering to the scholastic current of thought in the proceedings opened for insults in the territorial jurisdiction of the Cistercian monastery of Poblet, one of the most important ecclesiastical manors in the history of Catalonia in the Late Middle and Early Modern Age.
