| Sumario: | [EN] This article studies some of the features of so-called background music; that which is not the main focus of the listener but is played to provide a sonic background and to create an atmosphere. In the case of conventional listening, the ritual, when considered as a meta-message, prescribes our understanding of what is happening on the stage. Background music has no ritual to follow. Since ubiquitousness is one on its features, background music is useful both for filling voids as well as camouflaging their shortfalls or disguising them. |
