Sumario:[EN] In the present work an application of geostatistical techniques for the determination of the suitable zone for the implantation of an urban solid waste dump has been exposed. Based on data from field surveys, it was possible to obtain the correlation between them, and from these, through the application of geostatistical estimation and geostatistical simulation techniques, the maps of probabilities corresponding to the thicknesses of waterproof strata were obtained. The determination of the risk maps allows to delimit the optimal area for the implantation of the vessel, based on results that guarantee relatively high probabilities, so that the landfill does not cause any environmental damage due to leachate leaks from the bottom of the vessel.
