| Sumario: | This doctoral thesis explores the integration of climate justice and transformative change in San Francisco's urban climate adaptation planning. Using a qualitative case study, it examines collaborative efforts between city government and community-based organizations (CBOs) to embed justice principles into adaptation actions. Key findings reveal that CBOs play a critical role in fostering accountability, advancing equity, and addressing the specific needs of vulnerable communities. The study concludes that effective climate adaptation requires cities to prioritize justice, empower CBOs through leadership and funding, and create intersectional, community-driven responses for resilient urban adaptation to climate change. |
