Description
Summary:[EN] The metaverse is a combination of physical and digital reality supported by advanced technologies, specifically virtual reality and augmented reality. The first experiences carried out by museums such as the Louvre in France, the British Museum in the United Kingdom, The Met in the United States, or Bombas Gens in Spain show the potential of the metaverse to improve the visitor experience, enhance content, increase accessibility, and preserve cultural heritage. The arrival of virtual reality devices, together with online metaverse platforms, expands the ways of disseminating and creating content for different fields, including art. This article presents the most advanced technological tools currently used by museums. The sustainable character of the metaverse is justified by the removal of physical barriers. The management of art collections no longer has limits. The methodological section describes the technologies applied to the Virtual Museum Igor Issacovitch project, directed and curated by Mudit.org and produced by Rendersim. It is therefore necessary to understand the potential of these technologies at the service of culture, since the appropriate hybridization of this technology will determine the leadership of museums in the digital era.
