Sumario:This article arises from a doctoral research examining the learning of justification in a French class. It aims to reflect on the didactical transposition of the concept of justification suggested in Québec's curriculum for primary and secondary schools, to further define this concept, and to distinguish it from other similar discourses through a review of the literature in the fields of linguistics and pedagogy. This article also aims to question the notion conveyed in secondary level French classes that justification corresponds to a prototypical textual pattern, based on major sociolinguistics research. Finally, we propose a didactical transposition focused on the multiplicity of language uses by underlining the use of this transposition to support the development of justifying skills that are useful in all areas of life.
