Descripción
Sumario:In this master’s thesis, the target is to got deeper into the issues of developing the network of electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing more focused on the Barcelona Metropolitan Area targeting the aspects of urban air mobility. As a result, the project seeks to find how eVTOL innovation might serve as an efficient solution for the issues of mobility in the urban environment advocating for the increasing number of cars and environmental pollution. The study is conducted initially from an extensive literature review, in areas such as UAM, eVTOL technology, and urban network structure. This literature review provides a level of knowledge to the author that would shape the distinct approach and framework pertinent to the BMA’s nature and requirements. When it comes to the specifics of the modeling, the methodology in fact includes a set of complex models with consideration of airspace constraints, demand distribution, vehicles characteristics, and infrastructure features that are specific to the Barcelona context. Based on the above critical factors of metropolitan area, the study propose a framework, which is suitable in solving the challenges and seizing opportunities in the area. This thesis proceeds into practical simulation analyses and case studies. These simulations are intended to obtain extensive information about the best network structures regard to the time distance, energy consumption, and infrastructural costs, specific to the Barcelona situation. The call and its potential development are additionally supported by the real-life examples of case studies that make the view of the benefits and applications of the proposed eVTOL network more comprehensible. These elaborate analyses reveal the social justice impact of eVTOL networks as a crucial means through which urban transport systems are reshaped in the process of attaining the sustainability goals of the region. In more detail, the present research advances knowledge on the innovation of the eVTOL network, the architecture of the BMA focused on the relationship and its real application for further studies. The constituent knowledge and methods of the study, make it possible to provide solutions and recommendations to on strategically influence the policies, strategies and other frameworks that contribute to eVTOL’s integration into the transport system of Barcelona in the shortest time. By understanding and analyzing the connections in networks that can represent the possibility of arranging eVTOL networks in solving this problem of congestion, one can hinder the impacts to the environment and enhance the quality of life for those residing in congested urban areas. Taking this into consideration, it is important to note that the results of this study may be useful in place other than Barcelona too could it be the case that such a conclusion is reached. It stems that the examination of cities in the process of addressing two phenomena affecting the modern world: the constant increase of urbanization level and the achievement of various aspects of sustainability can contribute to the discussions about the further evolution of urban mobility on a global level based on the conclusions of this thesis. Barcelona also has advantages that are associated with the development of the eVTOL market, which can be applied to the specific characteristics of metropolitan areas and contribute to the widespread application of eVTOLs. Thus, this research is beneficial in contributing to the further evolvement and interaction between the urban planner professional, policymaker, engineer, and researcher. This claim suggests that multiple, interconnected eVTOLs have more practicality and potential benefit, helping the audience, potential investors, and policymakers to conceive the dream of urban air mobility as the means to construct the brighter, more sustainable, and integrated cities of tomorrow. eVTOL is one of the most promising types of aviation transportations that are used today all over the world. Thus, implementing this kind of technology can greatly contribute to solving existing mobility problems and can even lead to the further development of cities.
