Sumario:ABSTRACT: This essay will analyse the main illustrators who have illuminated the numerous published editions of the tales compiled by the Grimm brothers. To this end, the state of the research in this matter will be outlined, establishing very general guidelines on the origin and evolution of the genre, and defining the importance of illustrations in children's literature and their historical evolution. It will continue, within this state of affairs, with a journey through the evolution that these illustrations have undergone over the centuries and, later, it will analyse the work done by the Grimm brothers, its main characteristics and its importance. Subsequently, a theoretical and methodological reflection will be established based on the consultation of different sources that will culminate with the study of the main illustrators of his work through a chronological journey. It will end with a brief approximation to a specific case: the first illustrated edition of the collection, the English translation, published in 1823 under the title German folk tales, which included twenty-two engravings by George Cruikshank (1792-1878).
