HISTORIA DEL ARTE
Descripción
Sumario:[EN] This article deals with the formal, stylistic, procedural, and technical analysis of a series of panels representing the Nursing Virgin. It is a model of which dozens of versions and their copies have been documented. Its attribution has been uncertain, having been ascribed to various authors of the 16th century Valencian artistic panorama, almost always in the orbit of Macip. The detailed technical study of various specimens has allowed, on the one hand, a proposal to date the prototype, recognizing it as one of the first works by Joan de Joanes. On the other hand, the material and procedural evidence has made it possible to group together some specimens that came from the same workshop and it was also possible to verify that they were painted by different artists, even discerning later copies. Finally, a hypothesis is proposed for the model, which due to its characteristics, may have constituted a test of mastery in the Macip¿s workshop.
