| Summary: | This article represents a contribution to the history of the reception of French literature in Spain, raised specially within the print media. Our research stems from the study of a group of French novels (28), by various writers (16) and from various times (1863-1926). They are a unique compendium of works translated mainly between 1915 and 1926 by writer Sara Insúa. Upon reconstituting this catalogue of both male and female writers an obvious diversity is observable. This results in a duality substantiated by the repercussion of the 19th century romantic novel and the contemporary fate of the French novel from the Belle Époque. This corpus eventually posits a multifaceted reading of the highly complex European society of the late 1800s and early 1900s. |
