Descripción
Sumario:[EN] It addresses the reforms carried out during the Second Spanish Republic to promote and renew secondary education in order to overcome its elitist nature through a dual strategy. On the one hand, the number of teachers and secondary schools increased granting access to their classrooms to students from different social strata as well as female students. Various statistical data are provided to show this phenomenon. On the other hand, new teaching methods were disseminated, favouring the active and experimental teaching of high school graduates, which had their origin in the pedagogical laboratory of the Instituto-Escuela created by the Junta para Ampliación de Estudios e Investigaciones Científicas (JAE) in 1918.
