I argue for the conversion of churches into mosques, the erection of mosques upon churches, and the different processes of renewal and/ or abandonment of earlier churches as well as the construction of new ones from 711 onwards.[ES] Con el fin de estudiar el destino de las iglesias cristianas durante los primeros siglos del Islam en la península ibérica (siglos VIII-X), es nuestra intención, desde una perspectiva arqueológica y mediante el análisis de diferentes ejemplos, abordar los procesos de conversión de iglesias en mezquitas, de construcción de mezquitas sobre iglesias, de renovación y/o abandono de iglesias previas y la construcción de otras nuevas a partir del 711.Tenured Researcher, Escuela de Estudios Árabes (EEA, CSIC) and Escuela Española de Historia y Arqueología en Roma (EEHAR-CSIC).
