Descripción
Sumario:This paper describes the statistical analysis of two large-scale nitrate sampling campaigns carried out in September 1 983 and in September 2003 concerning the groundwater of the Vega de Cranada aquifer; in addition to the spatial distributions of nitrates, corresponding to the same dates. The results of the analysis lead us to conclude that contamination of the aquifer has increased considerably, both in terms of the increase in mean and in extreme values and in terms of the positively-anomalous surface area. The latter is interpreted not so much as an increase in the nitrogen introduced into the system as, very probably, a progressive change in the water resources management, with a lower rate of surface water infiltration and a higher rate of return and greater exploitation of groundwater
