| Sumario: | [EN] We study SME collaboration and networking from the `modes of innovation¿ perspective, where STI (Science, technology ¿ innovation) and DUI (learning-by-doing, -using and -interacting) represent typologies of knowledge generation, researching specific combinations of `conjunctive collaborations¿ that, jointly developed, drive innovation. Our argument elaborates on a capability-based perspective to explain different SME collaboration paths to innovate. Using configurational thinking and applying cs/QCA method in 6315 SMEs in Spain, a moderate innovation country, findings show 12 different conjunctive collaboration paths representing modes of innovation driving innovation, mostly unobservable from traditional regression-based methods. These results offer valuable insights into collaboration and networking for SME innovation. |
